RYLA-Positive Coaching Alliance Partnership
Involvement in youth sports is a privilege that brings great responsibility to those
of us who choose to coach. The time we have with our players is brief, but the
opportunities to make positive contributions to their development are vast, and
not to be missed.
The Roswell Youth Lacrosse Association has established a partnership with
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to ensure a positive, character building
experience for our players. Their philosophy is so important to the RYLA that
every coach must become a PCA certified “Double-Goal Coach”, and become
recertified every year. The first goal of a Double-Goal Coach is winning, but the
second, more important goal is teaching life lessons through sports.
We teach the elements of ROOTS; respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials,
Teammates and one’s Self. We help players redefine what it means to be a
winner by rewarding selflessness, effort and sportsmanship. They are being
taught to Honor the Game through their actions, and in so doing, are learning
to honor life and it’s responsibilities.
